Each bee species has favored plants. Though there are at least 10 honeybee hives within a block, very few honebees are seen here. Honeybees were observed foraging in great numbers on the neighbor's squash, but not on these. There are at least 8 species of solitary bees present, plus bumblebees and a wide variety of wasps. Ladybugs are numerous, and a few butterflies and skippers are present. Can you identify the flowers?

This garden, about a block from the first, has some of the same bees, and some different ones, including honeybees at this site. Also it is richer in butterflies. Both gardens are in Hemingway, South Carolina and are in early July, when there is a dearth of wild flowers for bee feed. Can you identify the flowers?

want to PREVENT cross pollination (In general, you want good cross
pollination for fruit production, as this will give the best quality fruit, however, this
may not be true if you are going to plant the seeds that result.)
