Drone Pupae
DSCN8705.jpg (29514 bytes)

These drone pupae are remarkably clean, no varroa mites evident at all. There is a tendency for the varroa mites to concentrate in areas of drone brood. A careful search was made of the insides of the cells from which they came. No varroas nor varroa droppings were evident.  For comparison, look at this picture from my files, of a pupa that is from an infected hive.
