Capped Honey Comb

Bees are attempting to lap up the leaking honey from the broken areas of the comb. No drip will be wasted.

In this area there is rarely a surplus of fall honey for beekeepers to harvest, but it helps provision the bees for winter. These bees are well provisioned, with an estimated 60 to 80 pounds of capped honey. This is a sign of a healthy, industrious colony.
