I'm wondering if this is Plecia americana, rather than the more common Plecia nearactica, but I'm just guessing as I can find little on americana. Can you identify?

   These were seen in large numbers August 8, 2003, in Hemingway, SC (near Myrtle Beach); they were centering on several shrubs, but did not stay with one plant species.
