Many early blossoms are on field weeds or forest hardwoods. A few are ornamentals that are planted for their beauty. These pictures are from the 2001 season.

Collards    An extremely valuable plant for bees of many species, as well as skippers, several species of flies and other insects. The pollen of all brassicas is very high in protein, which makes it a high quality food source. It is a pity that more collards are not left to bloom in the spring after winter harvesting is done.
