Interestingly there is a bee yard with about 80 nucleus colonies of honeybees about 200 feet from this flower. Honeybees were showing no interest in this plant. It may have been that a sole plant has not caught the attention of the scouts. Contrast this with Asclepias syriaca, the common milkweed, which is a prime nectar source for honeybees in its range.
